Speechless

Remember that elderly couple that I have been helping get packed and ready to move in to assisted living? They have lived and traveled all over the world, and walking through their house is like walking through a museum. And the stories they tell!! I love going over there just to hear the stories.

Yesterday I was there helping to pack one of the bedrooms and I saw it. I had never noticed it before, because the closet door was always open, blocking my view. There were two other puzzle ladies in there, and I was so awe struck that I said "T! T! Look at it! LOOK!" (T is a puzzle lady and cousin of the elderly woman we are packing.) She said "You like that picture? M was going to give it to you."

Guys, I can not tell you how much that broke my heart, because there was no way I could accept it. I helped them because I wanted to, not because I expected something in return, you know?

Just then, M came in and asked me if I would like that picture. After some arm twisting (admittedly, it didn't take much) I accepted it. I told her that I would be honored to accept it.

It is a rubbing of a temple in Thailand.

(This picture does not do it justice, believe me.)

I am still in awe of it, and each time I walk past it I am absolutely gobsmacked. I feel so privileged to have it.
